29 Kerala Bn NCC was raised as 4 Kerala Bn NCC in November 1957 to provide NCC coverage to the Educational Institutions of entire Malabar area, which is now the responsibility of the NCC Group HQ, Calicut.  Rapid expansion of NCC during subsequent years this unit re-designated as 27 Kerala Bn NCC in 1966 and again as 29 Kerala Bn NCC in 1978, with corresponding changes in the affiliation/de-affiliation.  This unit shifted from West Hill Calicut to Calicut University Senate House on 01 Dec 2004.  Calicut University provided a portion of ground floor of Senate House on temporary basis and Bn functioned there upto 09 Jun 10. The unit re-located to New NCC Complex, Exhibition Road, West Hill, Calicut on 10 Jun 2010 due to non-allocation of land by Calicut University.   Presently, this unit has five Coys of Senior Division and eighteen Troops of Junior Division with a total strength of 2601 cadets and 28 Associate NCC Officers
